Obama Sets New MMJ Policy

We have been waiting for this for a while. The Obama administration will NOT seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws. For all of those that have no idea what I am talking about I will help you out.

As you all know medical marijuana is legal in 14 states (Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.) however there was still the federal law which said that marijuana was illegal. This created a sort of grey area in the law. On the state level it was legal but on the federal level it still was not. So perfectly legal medical marijuana facilities (dispensaries) were being raided by the DEA. As you can see the whole thing was rather dumb.

Now Obama just cracked out a new policy that outlined who the DEA should really be targeting.
In particular, the memo urges to pursue marijuana cases which involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or other crimes.

Here is the gist of it in one quote:
Prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.
It is asinine that it took this long.
