Obama Sets New MMJ Policy

We have been waiting for this for a while. The Obama administration will NOT seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws. For all of those that have no idea what I am talking about I will help you out.

As you all know medical marijuana is legal in 14 states (Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.) however there was still the federal law which said that marijuana was illegal. This created a sort of grey area in the law. On the state level it was legal but on the federal level it still was not. So perfectly legal medical marijuana facilities (dispensaries) were being raided by the DEA. As you can see the whole thing was rather dumb.

Now Obama just cracked out a new policy that outlined who the DEA should really be targeting.
In particular, the memo urges to pursue marijuana cases which involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or other crimes.

Here is the gist of it in one quote:

Prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.
It is asinine that it took this long.

Want To Get High? There's An App For That.

Since the birth of the App Store, Apple, has made some strange decisions on what apps are worthy; finally a marijuana app has broken the barrier.

This new app called Cannabis is a useful tool that can help you find medical marijuana based on your GPS location. The app is based on the site Anjang, here is what they have to say about their app:

Once you have received your medical cannabis recommendation from a qualified physician, you will need to locate an organization that can provide you with medical cannabis. Access the Cannabis application again. Press locate. The nearest medical cannabis collectives, cooperatives or facilities will appear with little green dots on a map of your current or selected location. Get real-time door-to-door directions. Add the locations' details to your iPhone contact list.

If the unfortunate happens, and you find yourself in legal trouble over your medicinal herb, pull out your cannabis application once again. Pin point local attorneys who specialize in marijuana-related offenses.
However this app comes with a $3 price tag.

NY Times Marijuana Scare Story

Now I see a lot of bullshit in mainstream media (cough Fox News cough) but The New York Times published one of the most idiotic articles I have read in a while. The story is a a two page shit show filled to the brim with ignorance. It starts out with the dramatic line "IT was as if she woke up one day and decades of her life had disappeared."; the article goes on to state that marijuana is addictive and a gateway drug. The story cites people's life experiences as the source instead of science. In other words stupid people were looking for something to shift the blame of their problems and instead of holding themselves accountable they rope in pot. The article becomes ridiculous when they start comparing marijuana to cocaine and the article goes over the edge when Smoking pot, she said, “was a slow form of suicide.”

If you want to read this check it out.

And remember "You don't need a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows"

New Hampshire's Medical Gets Vetoed

Just as legislation that would have made New Hampshire the 14th state to legalize marijuana use Gov. John Lynch vetoed, citing concerns over distribution and cultivation. Lawmakers had made extensive changes to the bill in hopes of winning over Mr. Lynch, who had been critical from the start.

Just as other Governors, he said the bill still had too many defects.

“I understand and empathize with the advocates for allowing medical marijuana use in New Hampshire, However, the fact remains that marijuana use for any purpose remains illegal under federal law.”
The bill’s sponsor, Representative Evalyn S. Merrick, a Democrat, said she would push for an override.

To override the veto they need to convince two more state senators and maintain the margin of victory in the House in order to receive the 2/3 majorities that would be necessary for a veto override. (The House vote was 232-108, or 68%, and the Senate vote was 14-10). The vote is not expected to take place until September, so they will have plenty of time to regroup and make a fresh pitch to legislators.
